How do you know which codec to use to get good audio and video from recorded TV in XP Pro and Windows Vista?

I record TV in Vista Media Center, but want to watch it on XP Pro PC using Media Center 11. No codecs came with XP Pro, so I need to install some; question is, how do you pick what to install. Also, does it matter if the TV recording is analog or digital? ThanksHow do you know which codec to use to get good audio and video from recorded TV in XP Pro and Windows Vista?
What you need is the MCE video decoder. Google it. There are several sources, including Nvidia. The link below is for the encoder test. You seem to be confusing media center and media player in your post-XP can have media center and media player 11, not media center 11. If any of your recorded TV is copy protected, it can only be viewed on the PC it was recorded on.
